The Alliance for Cellular Signaling (AfCS) Macrophage Biology Laboratory has two major functions. The first is to develop assays and methods for use by the AfCS. As part of this charge, the Laboratory has developed the use of lentiviral-mediated RNAi in RAW264.7 cells, and it is currently testing a panel of cell functions in RAW264.7 cells for possible use as output measurements in the ligand screen.
A second function of the Macrophage Biology Laboratory will be to serve as the primary laboratory for the selective examination of proximal signaling events that modulate Ca2+ flux and/or changes in phosphatidylinositol-3,4,5-trisphosphate (PIP3). This signaling module will serve as a testing ground for larger approaches to cellular signaling with regard to methods, data processing, and data presentation.
The Macrophage Laboratory is collaborating with Cell Signaling Technology (use and development of antibodies) www.cellsignal.com.
