The two-ligand assays are carried out with the goal of identifying
non-additive effects due to the interaction of multiple ligands. In all
experiments, the effects of single ligand and simultaneous ligand
addition are measured. Where practical, the effect of sequential ligand
addition is also studied.
Assays include immunoblots to detect phosphorylation at specific sites
within a panel of signaling proteins, and time-dependent changes in
concentrations of cyclic AMP and Ca2+.
The ligand names in the first column of each table are linked to
descriptions of the ligands and the table entries are linked to the
data for that ligand-pair/assay combination. Ligand pairs are
annotated as follows:
- Y - ligand interaction observed for at least one
phosphoprotein or cytokine
- N - no interaction between ligands observed
- i - incomplete data, conclusion not drawn
- A - additive response to ligand pair, same as sum
of single ligand responses: R(X+Y) = R(X) + R(Y)
- >A - greater than additive response: R(X+Y) > R(X) + R(Y)
- <A - less than additive response: R(X+Y) < R(X) + R(Y)
