Blast Data Section

Introduction

The Molecule Page sequence is compared to a non-redundant protein database (consisting of all NCBI, UniProt, and selected Ensembl protein sequences), with no filtering, standard Blast parameters (e.g. BLOSUM62 matrix) otherwise, and an E-value cutoff of 0.01. Up to 101 hits are reported.

Since identical sequences are grouped together, the representative title might not be truly representative of all the records which contain that sequence - especially when multiple species have the same exact sequence for a given protein. Viewing all the records with that sequence (by selecting "Record Info") is recommended for detailed analysis.

Blast Hit Categories

E-Value

This is a statistical measure of the sequence similarity as reported by the Blast algorithm. In general, a lower E-value (i.e. one that is closer to zero) means a stronger similarity.

Score

This is a score of the sequence similarity as reported by the Blast algorithm. In general, a higher score means a stronger similarity.

Identity %

The percentage identity of the aligned region of the Blast match.

Query Match %

The percentage of the query (Molecule Page) sequence in the Blast match.

Representative Title

A representative title for this sequence, which may not be entirely reflective of all the protein records which contain this sequence.

Links

The Record Info link displays all the protein records which contain the sequence in the Blast match. The Alignment link displays a pairwise alignment between the Molecule Page sequence and the Blast record that is matched.
