Author comments associated with this state

The authors have determined, by two-dimensional gel electrophoresis, that a posttranslational modification exists. Phosphorylated and unphosphorylated Rpn8 had similar mass but different isoelectric points. The phosphorylated form can be induced in vitro by the application of a proteasome inhibitor, PSI. The phosphorylated form did not exist in transformed cell lines.
